Privacy policy
What this site collects, who processes it, and how to get it removed. Short, because the site does very little.

The short version
This site does not sell data, does not run advertising, and does not build a profile on you. It collects two things: what you deliberately type into a form, and aggregate analytics about which pages get read. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking on any page.
Who is responsible
Viken Patel is the data controller for vikenpatel.com. For any question about your data, including a request to see or delete it, email viken@vikenpatel.com.
What is collected, and by whom
- HubSpot
- Newsletter signups, contact enquiries and the booking qualification form. Anything you type into a form on this site is stored in HubSpot's CRM.
- Name, email address, company, role, and whatever you write in the message field.
- Google Tag Manager
- Loads the measurement tags listed below. Tag Manager itself does not collect anything about you; it is the mechanism that loads the tools that do.
- No analytics data of its own. It requests the container configuration from Google, which means Google sees the request.
- Google Analytics 4
- Aggregate traffic measurement: which pages get read, and roughly where readers arrive from. Loaded through Tag Manager.
- Pseudonymous usage data. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage.
- Vercel Analytics
- Page performance and traffic counts.
- Aggregate and cookieless. No individual visitor is identified and no cross-site profile is built.
- Vercel
- Hosting and content delivery for this site.
- Standard server logs, including IP address, retained briefly for security and diagnostics.
Forms and the CRM
If you subscribe to the newsletter, send an enquiry, or complete the booking qualification form, that information goes into HubSpot and is used to reply to you and, where relevant, to run the engagement. It is not sold, rented, or shared with anyone outside that purpose.
Where an enquiry is about implementation work, I may forward it to theCSS Agency, which I founded. I will say so in my reply rather than doing it silently.
Newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link in every issue. Unsubscribing removes you from the mailing list immediately.
How long it is kept
Enquiry and client records are kept for as long as there is a business relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards for tax and legal purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained on the default schedule of each provider.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask for a copy of the data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, or ask for it to be exported. Email the address above and I will action it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are not satisfied with the response.
Cookies
Vercel Analytics is cookieless. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies, loaded through Tag Manager. HubSpot sets cookies when you interact with a form.
No advertising or remarketing tags run on this site, so no advertising cookies are set. If that changes, this section changes with it and a consent prompt appears before any such tag loads. Adding one quietly would make this page false.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. There is no archive of previous versions. Ask me if you need one.
